Hi. My name is Lauren. I am on a journey to wellness that began in February 2011. I am a regular person who has lost about 90 pounds by working hard, exercising regularly, and managing my eating. I am not a cooking, health, fitness or nutrition expert. I do love science, learning, and reading scholarly articles. I am setting out to keep a journal of my successes and failures in everyday life as I attempt to balance working full time (often overtime), staying fit, eating right, managing stress, and day-to-day stuff. Read my first blog post to get started.
In real life, I am a Veterinarian in small animal practice. In my spare time, I am a Zumba instructor and enthusiast. Weight Watchers got me started. I also run a little here and there. In summer 2013, I started Crossfit. In January 2014, I jumped on the paleo/primal/clean eating bandwagon. I am married to Jason. I have three cats: Jaquelyn “Small Fry,” George, and Bea “Bad Kitten” Arthur.
Here are some pictures of me “before.” There aren’t a lot of good pictures of me from this time since I was constantly avoiding being photographed. The first was taken in January 2011. Notice I am hiding behind the snowman. The second was taken sometime in 2010 at work.
I won’t call these “after” pictures because my journey is ongoing, but here is a series of pictures that illustrates my journey so far.
